A BILL to amend article five, chapter eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section forty-four, relating to authorizing county boards of education to sell advertisements to be placed on school bus shelters.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article five, chapter eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section forty-four, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 5. COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

§18-5-44. Sale of advertisements placed on school bus shelters.

County boards of education may contract for the sale of advertisements to be placed on school bus shelters. County boards are authorized to determine the types of advertisements that may be placed on the shelters, together with the fees to be charged. Advertisements for alcoholic beverages, tobacco products or political activities are prohibited on school bus shelters.
Fees collected for these advertisements shall be used for school purposes.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to authorize county boards of education to sell advertisements to be placed on school bus shelters. Ads for alcohol, tobacco or political activities are prohibited.
